Drip leg size shall equal steam line size up to 2" maximum. |

Trap type shall be determined by use. See Steam Traps, Division
15-2 for requirements. |

Install check valve only where trap discharges against a
return line pressure. |

Return lines 1" and less shall have cast brass lateral fitting with
threaded adapter. Return lines over 1" shall have fitted wrought copper coupling with threaded
adapter. Silver solder to copper return. |

High side trap piping shall be Schedule 80 threaded black iron with cast
iron fittings from drip leg to trap. Do not use malleable steel fittings and street elbows. Use
Schedule 40 threaded red brass from trap outlet to copper return (do not substitute a red brass
nipple with a dielectric union). |
