| Plant material recommended for Berkeley climate zone is referenced in the Sunset New Western Garden Book. |
| B. | Installation |
| 1. | Installation varies with type of plant; however, to allow for settlement, all plants should be placed slightly above grade. |
| 2. | Trees, where necessary, are to be double staked. |

| It is recommended that plant materials grown in the Northern California area be used rather than those imported from Southern California and elsewhere. |
| D. | Contractor Additional Requirements |
| 1. | It is recommended that the use of ground cover (especially ivy) be limited and that mulch be utilized as a substitute. |
| 2. | It is recommended to use the smallest container practicable, i.e., for shrubs, use a 5-gallon container and for trees a 15-gallon container or a 24" box. |
