| 2-17 | Paving |
| A. | Materials |
| 1. | Use asphalt or concrete with broom or salt finish of natural color. |
| 2. | Avoid flagstone pavers as they tend to pop loose from base material, crack and can be difficult to match at later dates. |
| B. | Joints |
| Determine expansion requirements before specifying. |
| C. | Installation |
| Specify standard installation methods: base depths, reinforcement (concrete) and weak surface depth depend on load requirements and thus vary. |
| D. | Styles, Colors, Finishes |
| Darker materials preferred as they are usually easier to match in the future. |
| E. | Contractor Additional Requirements |
| 1. | Identify manufacturer's source for replacement for paving types of individual pieces, i.e., tiles, bricks, slate. |
| 2. | Bomalite concrete installations should require turn-over of tamp template pattern to University. |
| F. | General Considerations |
| To reduce the possibility of premature failure, do not under spec base and support materials. |
