Fire and Life Safety - 18 - Portable Fire Extinguishers
2A:10BC minimum rated fire extinguishers are required in corridors of all campus
buildings with travel distance not to exceed 75'. Laboratories and areas with special
hazards will require consultation with UCFPD for type and spacing. Locations should be
noted on plans. Extinguishers will be designated N.I.C. as they will be provided by the
Physical Plant, after a request is submitted by the project manager.
Portable fire extinguishers must be mounted and identified. Locations shall be determined
to maximize ready access yet minimize possible conflicts with pedestrian movement.
Wall mounted extinguishers shall have plastic windows.
Portable fire extinguishers using carbon tetrachloride or chloro-bromomethane
extinguishing agents are not allowed.
