The Long Range Development Plan 1990-2005

The current Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) serves as the general plan to guide the physical development of the campus. The LRDP was accompanied by a comprehensive, programmatic Environmental Impact Report (EIR), and was subject to formal public review pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The LRDP and its EIR were approved by the Regents in May 1990.

The purpose of the LRDP was to provide a broad vision of the amount and nature of development to occur on and near the central campus during the 1990-2005 timeframe, as well as an understanding of its environmental impacts. The projects shown on the LRDP are, however, illustrative in nature. Each individual project undertaken by the campus since adoption of the LRDP has been reviewed for its conformance with the plan and the provisions of the EIR, and supplemental environmental analysis has been performed as required by CEQA.

A copy of the LRDP is available for public review during the hours of 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-5:00 at room 100 of the A&E Building on the UC Berkeley campus: please call 510-642-1782 in advance to schedule an appointment. Individual copies of the LRDP map or book may be ordered directly from Canterbury Photographic at 1946 Bonita, Berkeley 94704, 510-649-3001.
