Required Review for Campus Construction Projects

The information provided below is for use by campus units that have been delegated the authority to undertake construction projects on the Berkeley campus. Projects include all new construction, as well as alteration, replacement, and repair of any building or system that would ordinarily require permits, inspections, and final approvals from a governing municipality.

If you are looking for information on how to have a renovation or small construction project done, please contact Physical Plant-Campus Services or go to http://ppcs-web.berkeley.edu/home.asp. For information on the Project Approval Process for larger projects (those valued over $50,000) please go to http://www.cp.berkeley.edu/ProjectApprovalProcess.htm.

This review is intended to help ensure that renovation and remodeling projects 'self-performed' by campus staff satisfy all applicable codes, standards, and requisites. All projects, regardless of cost or scope, require consultation with the Campus Fire Marshal. The Vice Provost – Academic Planning and Facilities must approve a project if it involves specialized research equipment.

If you have question about this process or Risk Review Form (below), please contact Pam Sutherland in the office of the Vice Chancellor – Facilities Services [e-mail: psutherland@cp.berkeley.edu].
